

She was born on April 21, 1961, in Alexandria, VA to Thomas H. Gailliot, Sr. and Elizabeth Ann (Beall) Gailliot.
Kathleen (Katie) was a graduate of Fort Hunt High School in 1979 and a resident of Stafford Virginia since 1998. She received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Strayer University in 2001. She worked in the finance department of the Stafford County Public schools for 20 years and was the budget supervisor prior to retirement. Katie and David were married for 24 years and were extremely proud of their three children who all graduated from Virginia Tech.
Over the years Katie supported several community causes including literacy, Special Olympics and St. Jude’s. She was very active in the Amateur Radio community was well known to the Stafford Amateur Radio Association, Rappahannock Valley Amateur Radio Club, Fauquier Amateur Radio Association, The 3905 Century Club (an international amateur radio club), and served as an American Radio Relay League Volunteer Examiner Coordinator. Her work in the Amateur radio hobby impacted hundreds of people of all ages and promoted STEM education. Katie is officially registered with the FCC under the call sign K4TER and was affectionally known as “KATER”.
Survivors include her parents: Thomas Gailliot, Sr. and Elizabeth Ann Gailliot of Alexandria, VA; husband, David Lee Gilliam of Stafford, VA; three children: John Picciano of Centreville, VA, Andrew Gilliam and wife Kasey of Green Cove Springs, FL, and Aundrea Chichester and husband Daniel of Stafford, VA; four grandchildren: Mac, Mille, and Emma Chichester; and Wesley Gilliam; six siblings: MaryJo Pohlig and husband Chris of Florida, Teresa Westerman and husband Andy of North Carolina, Thomas Gailliot, Jr. and wife Kathy of Alexandria, VA, Susie Thompson and husband Kenny of Florida, Patty Hart of Virginia; and Alicia Gailliot of Virginia; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service, 186 Shelton Shop Road, Stafford, VA 22554 from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM where a memorial service will begin at 12:00 Noon. A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, February 17, 2025, at Quantico National Cemetery, 18424 Joplin Road, Triangle, VA 22172 at 9:00 AM
