Kurt Callaghan Lake

On March 26, 2021, our beloved father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend Kurt Callaghan Lake passed away at the age of 63. Kurt was born in Basseterre, St. Kitts on January 27, 1958 to the late Jane Lake Butler and Walter “Blanco” Williams. He immigrated to New York in 1964 along with his siblings to rejoin his mother and stepfather Austin Butler. He attended Boys and Girls High School in Brooklyn, NY where he competed in the sport of track and field, receiving awards and recognition. Upon graduation he enlisted in the United States Army entering the field of Logistics. His Army career consisted of many foreign tours including assignments in Korea and two tours in Germany. Awards and recognitions were also received throughout his military career. Upon completion of his military career, he worked for various Government contractors after relocating to Kuwait. He married his high school sweetheart Charmaine Atkins. From their union they had three daughters Siobhan, Fallon, and Dominique. He later married Salwa Al-Ghannam and from their union they had one daughter Mariam. Kurt was an avid New York Giants, Miami Dolphins and New York Yankees fan and an all-around sports lover. He enjoyed Martial Arts and Fantasy movies and had a great love for reading. Kurt touched many of our lives and his presence in our lives is a gift that we will always be thankful for. Kurt leaves behind his daughters, sons-in-law Thomas and Michael, two stepsons Basil and Ahmed; grandchildren Tristan, Brooklynn, Taylor, Liam and Elijah; siblings Norma, Tshai, Rozelle, Jezelle, Helga, Royd, Osman, Desta and Vonda, brothers-in-law William, Wilfred, Robert and Marlon; and sister-in-law Kathy. As well as a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service, Stafford Chapel at 10:30 am.
