Mary Maltezos

Mary Maltezos, 78, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on September 10, 2025. Born September 23, 1946, in Piraeus, Greece, Mary was adored for sharing the vibrant customs and history of her birthplace with friends and family.

Emigrating to America with her then husband, Dimitrios, in late 1960’s, Mary took to leaning cosmetology where she graduated from the Marinello-Comer School of Beauty in 1968. From there she would go on to hold certifications and licenses in New York, New Jersey, and Virginia for nearly 50 years.

Mary would eventually move to New Jersey, where she would have 3 wonderful children, and eventually settle in Virginia, where she made many lifelong friends. She enjoyed art as a hobby, drawing many sketches for friends and family, and was also an accomplished cook, preparing many authentic dishes for friends and family who came to appreciate the flavor of her homeland.

Mary was preceded in death by her daughter Marina Maltezos, brother John Karamanis, and sister-in-law Litsa Karamanis. She is survived by her children Nicholas Maltezos and wife Sue of Upper Saddle River, NJ, Georgia Maltezos-Neary and husband Sean of Stafford, VA, grandchildren Marina, Vanessa, and Nicholas, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00pm Thursday, September 18, 2025 at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Stafford where a service will be held at 2:00pm. Interment will follow at Stafford Memorial Park.
