Wayne was born and raised in the Bronx, NY. After high school he enlisted in the Marine Corps where he served for 26 years. Wayne served as the Post Master at the Fredericksburg post office. He was the younger of two children born to Priscilla and John Davenport and was the cherished husband of Wanda. Wayne went to be with the Lord and will be remembered forever by his sons and Caleb, Joshua, Daniel, and daughter Micah; Wayne’s Brother John and his daughter Laura, his caring family Inez Petty, Melody Grigsby, Matthew Grigsby, Richard Petty, and Tabor Knight along with other valued family and friends.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, at Emmanuel Bible Church, 6911 Braddock Road, Springfield, with a visitation one hour prior to the service.
