Mr. Jett was born in Virginia on February 25, 1920 to Thad and Emma Jett.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Vannie Jean Jett.
Survivors include his daughter, Glenda J. Wiggins and husband Dan of Indiana; sons, John W. Jett and fiancée Ruby Merryman of Spotsylvania, David Jett and wife Diane Spotsylvania and Jimmy Jett and wife Gail of Wytheville; sister Beulah Lawrance; 3 grandchildren, Dinah Heck of Indiana, Kristy L. Lamb and husband Justin of Richmond and Stephen A. Jett and wife Julie of Dallas; and 6 great grandchildren.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 24 at Stafford Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers the family asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Vannie Jean Jett memorial fund in care of New Hope United Methodist Church of Fredericksburg.
Services are under the direction of Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Stafford Chapel.
