He was born January 21, 1942 and called Stafford County his home during his life.
Billy served in the US Army Civil Service as a Plumber at Ft Belvoir until his retirement. He was also a staple fixture at Vida’s Hardware for many years at Boswell’s corner helping customers with their hardware and grocery needs.
Often, Billy helped friends, neighbors and even strangers with their plumbing needs. This included late nights and weekends, and often taking one or more of his boys along with him as a helper.
To Billy there were no strangers, only friends that he had not met yet. He loved to sit and converse over a cup of coffee.
He was a member of Aquia Episcopal, Midway Baptist, and most recently Victory Baptist Church.
Billy enjoyed playing softball, as a pitcher for the DFE Dogs (Ft Belvoir Champions), and for his church leagues, Midway Baptist and Victory Baptist. He often spoke of playing softball at the field at Midway Island, and more recently, Fritter Field. Billy could be found taking his sons to the field on Sunday to play ball.
Billy is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Ada Elizabeth Boswell; brothers, Bobby, Charles (DJ Charlie B of WFLS radio), George Ulysses; and his sisters, Delsie, Doris, Jean, Muriel, Chuckie, and Tania; and by his son, Steven Boswell Sr.
Billy is survived by his loving wife, Virginia; his sons, David Boswell (Emily) and Kevin Boswell; his sister, Dot; and brother, Ricky.
Billy is also survived by his numerous grandchildren, Nicole, Renee, DJ, Brooke, Robert, Kyleigh, Samantha, Stevie, CJ, Chloe, Eric, Austin, Mackenzie and Makayla; as well as several great grandchildren.
A celebration of life for Billy will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service, Stafford Chapel. A visitation will be held an hour prior.
