Anastasia “Nadzia” Ogonek, 87, of Stamford CT, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2017, with family by her side. She was born in a small village in Eastern Poland on October 21, 1930, the only child of the late Stefan and Joanna Daniluk. In 1948, Anastasia and her mother boarded a mail plane and escaped Communist controlled Poland, immigrating to the United States where she met her father for the first time at the age of 18. Shortly thereafter, she met the love of her life Theodore E. Ogonek and married in 1952. They raised two sons together, Ted and Mark, in North Stamford.
Anastasia was a master seamstress and worked at several bridal salons in Stamford designing and making bridesmaids and wedding gowns.
Her major interest in life was her family. She was an excellent homemaker and enjoyed entertaining, cooking and baking. During the Christmas season, her house turned into a cookie factory, where she would bake daily creating many different kinds of cookies and candies.
However her passion in life was gardening, which she shared with both of her sons. She was always happiest digging in the dirt, planting shrubbery, trees and flowers and transforming her backyard into beautiful gardens.
Anastasia is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Theodore, a son, Theodore S. Ogonek, and his fiancée Maria Camomilli and her son Paul Camomilli. She was predeceased by her son, Mark David Ogonek.
