

"Connie" Morrell, 86, of Stamford passed away on September 17, 2010.Born on April 30, 1924 in Stamford, she was the daughter of the late Victor Page and Ethyl Cook. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph P. Morrell. She is survived by her three sons, Geoffrey P. Morrell, Stephen R. Morrell and Ralph ("Rusty") R. Morrell, as well as her three grandchildren, Maria P. Morrell, Gloria J. Morrell and Steve F. Morrell. She received her BA in Fine Arts From Hunter College and was also a student at the Art Students League in Manhattan. She was an accomplished artist and an early member and board member of the Stamford Art Association. During World War II she worked for Lord & Taylor, doing ad layouts and was a clothing model for newspaper ads. Connie was a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, Stamford, for over 47 years. She also served as a Sunday School Superintendent. She always maintained a keen whit and loved a turn of phrase from the serious to the whimsical. At the age of 50, she decided to pursue a life-long dream to fly airplanes. She did this, without anyone's knowledge, until she revealed her flying activities when she performed her first solo flight - after which everyone in the family nicknamed her "Captain Connie". She will always be remembered for her love of people from all walks of life.She could hold a conversation with anybody; this included everyone from the "common man" to show business and political luminaries.A gathering will take place on Wednesday, September 22nd at 12:30, and the memorial service will take place at 1:00 at the Bouton and Reynolds Funeral Home, 2900 Summer Street, Stamford, CT.
