With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Cosimo Ranauro, on May 16, 2026, at the age of 92. He was born in Lavello, Italy, and immigrated to the United States in 1972. He was a longtime Stamford resident and a devoted member of St. Leo’s Church, where he faithfully attended Mass every Sunday. Cosimo was a loving and kind person, who cherished his family and friends. He will be remembered for his warmth, laughter, and jovial sense of humor. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Cosimo is survived by his wife, Pia Ranauro; daughters, Tina Ranauro and Lucia Wolgast; son-in-law, Walter Wolgast; grandsons, Jason and Derek Wolgast; sisters, Rina DeSantis and Titina Isernia; brother, Michele Ranauro; and many beloved nieces and nephews, both in CT and in Italy.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 26, from 5 pm to 8 pm at Leo P. Gallagher Funeral Home, located at 2900 Summer Street, Stamford, CT. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Leo Parish on Wednesday, May 27, at 10am, located at 24 Roxbury Road, Stamford, CT. Burial service to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, located 1056 Daniels Farm Road in Trumbull, CT.
