
Dominick "Mickey" George Alessi of Stamford, CT, passed away peacefully at Stamford Hospital on Sunday, October 22, 2017, at the age of 87. Born in Archbald, PA, on April 12, 1930, Mickey was the son of the late Mary Vena Alessi and Angelo Alessi, and the widower of Grace Calabrese Alessi.
After graduating from Mayfield High School, Mickey enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1947. Following his discharge in 1949, Mickey moved to Stamford and began working as a quality control inspector at Pitney-Bowes, where he was employed for 40 years. He also served as a Greenwich Special Police Officer and an Auxiliary Connecticut State Police Trooper.
Mickey is survived by his sons Richard and Thomas, his daughters-in- law Carol Alessi and Patti Cahill, and his grandchildren Dana (Joseph), Sara, and Matthew. He is also survived by his brother, Joseph (Susan) Tomaselli, Jr.. In addition to his parents and wife, Mickey was predeceased by his stepfather, Joseph Tomaselli, Sr., and his sisters Maryann and Georgeanne.
Mickey will be dearly missed by family and friends and will be remembered for his stories, practical jokes and laughter.
Friends and family will be received from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 25, at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer Street in Stamford, CT. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Gabriel's Church, 914 Newfield Avenue in Stamford, CT., on Thursday, October 26, at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park Cemetery.
