

Donald Stephen Faerman, 81, of Stamford, CT, passed away Wednesday morning, November 16, 2011. He was born in Westmount, Montreal, on December 24, 1929, the son of Oscar and Rachel Faerman. He attended a private boarding school, Bishop’s College School, in Quebec, followed by McGill University and Babson College. He was an excellent athlete and especially enjoyed skiing and tennis, which he did for much of his life.
Don began his working career in the garment industry in Montreal. In 1965, he moved to Stamford, following a one-year trip around the world with his first wife, Florence, and their three children, Lisa, Michael and Jordan. He briefly had his own public relations firm in New York City but spent the bulk of his professional life as a financial planner, working for several firms, including Shearson Lehman Brothers and Lincoln Financial.
In 1977, Don married his second wife, Joan Peltz, who had four children from her previous marriage, Nancy, David, Karen and Michael. He was a wonderful husband for 34 years, enjoying traveling, going to the theatre, listening to jazz and spending time with his children and grandchildren. In 2004, he was very proud to become a U.S. citizen.
Don is survived by wife, Joan, and his older sister, Pola Spiegel, who had five sons, who loved and admired him. His surviving children are Lisa Herman, Hillel (Miryawm) Faerman, Nancy Warren, David (Kathy) Peltz, Karen Sharon and Michael (Stacey) Peltz. His grandchildren are Yoel Herman, Jake Herman, Hannah Herman, Yehoshua Faerman, Yaacov Faerman, Shaina Faerman, Nachum Faerman, Daniel Warren, Jeffrey Warren, Benjamin Warren, Rachel Peltz, Hannah Peltz, Jessica Sharon, Mallory Sharon, Tracy Sharon, Henry Peltz and Alison Peltz. His great-grandchildren are Chaya Rochel Herman, Shmuel Yitzhak Herman, Eliyahu Herman and Shmuel Chaim Faerman.
The funeral will be held at Temple Beth El, 350 Roxbury Road in Stamford, CT, at noon on Friday, November 18, 2011. The interment will take place immediately following the funeral at the cemetery adjacent to Temple Beth El.
