He was born on July 15, 1934, and grew up in the Bronx. He was drafted into the Army, and honorably discharged in June of 1963. In 1964 he married Janet A. Farrington. They moved from the Bronx to Stamford, Connecticut in 1970, where they raised their 3 children.
Frank graduated from Iona College in 1956, from Fordham Law School in 1966, and from St. John's University in 1973 with an MBA. He was admitted to the bar in the state of New York.
He was active in teaching and leading youngsters for most of his life, starting with his own children. He found no reason to stop coaching when his youngest (Kathleen) graduated from the Woodpeckers - a softball team he went on to lead for 25 years until the league dissolved in 2006. He would only miss grandchildren's sporting events when there were games in different places at the same time. He was a founding member of the Pocabaloo Club, serving under the president of the club, 6 year old grandson William DeMott.
Frank had a greatly varied career before and after retirement, with jobs (often two or more at once) ranging from ice cream vendor at Yankee Stadium, to Tax Manager at Howmet Corp, to bus driver for special ed kids, to Revenue Agent at the IRS. After retiring from the IRS in 2001, he started his own business, switching sides to represent taxpayers.
Joy for him was spending time with his four grandchildren: Ryan, Jason, Andrew, and William.
Frank was a parishioner at Saint Cecilia Church on Newfield Avenue in Stamford. He is survived by his wife Janet and his children Tom, Mike, and Kathleen DeMott. Frank was preceded in death by his sister Nancy O'Connor.
Visitation will be on Sunday April 21 from 3 to 7 at the Gallagher Funeral Home at 2900 Summer Street in Stamford, CT. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday April 22 at 11 AM at St. Cecilia Church 1184 Newfield Avenue in Stamford.
Memorial contributions are welcome at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
