

It with great sadness that Genevieve Piorkowski, age 90, of Monroe, died peacefully on Friday, March 30, 2012 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Bridgeport. She was the devoted wife of the late Leo Joseph Piorkowski. Born in Norwich, CT on May 14, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Mary (Bogut) Yeruc of Stamford, CT. She was also pre-deceased by her only brother Walter Yeruc, Jr., killed in France during WWII, her sister Anna O'Neill, and survived by her only sibling Helen Balkun of Stamford. Genevieve was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who was very proud to have seen four generations of her family. She enjoyed maintaining her garden and being outdoors, and reading, but most of all, caring for her beloved Yorkie, Shauna. Genevieve leaves behind her loving children Water and Judy Piorkowski of Greenwich, Anne and William Sisson of Monroe, Thomas Piorkowski and Donna of Trumbull, and Leo Piorkowski. Genevieve had the pleasure to watch eight grandchildren, Michael Piorkowski, Maureen Piorkowski, Jennifer Rianhard, Dan Piorkowski, Lauren Piorkowski, Steven Piorkowski, Tricia Piorkowski, and Kara Piorkowski grow to adulthood, and the joy of three great grandchildren, Tyler, Emma, and Quincy. Visitation will be held Monday, April 2, 2012 from 5-8 PM at The Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home 2900 Summer St. Stamford. A prayer service will be held at 7PM at the funeral Home.
