Gerard Elwood Kennedy, 23, of Stamford, CT passed peacefully on December 26th of complications of a seizure-like event, cause unknown.
A son of John and Carol Kennedy of Stamford, Gerard leaves his twin brother, Jack, younger brother, Ryan, 22, his beloved dog, DJ, 10 aunts and uncles and 12 cousins.
Gerard graduated from UConn Stamford in 2022, a History major. He was just starting a career in education, first at Grove School, a therapeutic boarding school in Madison, CT, where he was once a student, and most recently at Greenwich Catholic School, where he had just started a new job. He was drawn to education because he loved “working with and mentoring the kids”.
Gerard was a beautiful and special soul who touched many lives. He was a history buff and amazed us with his knowledge while watching Jeopardy! In recent years, he developed a love of travel, enjoying family trips to Italy, Portugal and the Dominican Republic. He loved hanging with his brothers, cousins and friends. He loved sports, playing basketball and baseball in school and, more recently, pickleball with his family. He was a passionate fan of the Yankees, Dallas Cowboys and Minnesota Timberwolves.
In lieu of flowers, to honor Gerard’s interest in education and helping people, donations may be made in Gerard’s memory to the Catholic Academy of Bridgeport, which will go towards tuition assistance for needy families at one of CAB’s four Bridgeport, CT campuses, which provide a superior education to 900 PreK-8th grade students each year (40% non-Catholic). Go to: https://www.catholicacademybridgeport.org/donate/ or mail your contribution to Catholic Academy of Bridgeport, 63 Pequonnock Street, Bridgeport, CT 06604.
A Vigil Service (wake) will be held on Wednesday, January 3rd from 5 to 8pm at Leo P. Gallagher & Son, 2900 Summer St. Stamford, CT with a Funeral Liturgy at St. Leo Parish in Stamford, 24 Roxbury Rd., on Thursday, January 4th at 10:30a
