Harold Fishkow died on June 3, 2018 at home in Stamford, CT, surrounded by his loving family. Harold was born in Brooklyn, NY on April 13, 1926. He graduated from James Monroe High School in New York City and then enlisted in the Army. After World War II, he attended the Bulova School of Watchmaking, then moved to Stamford, where he lived for more than 65 years. Harold worked at several jewelry stores in the area before opening the Heirloom Watch and Clock shop in Greenwich in 1976.
Harold was happiest when spending time with his family – our shared vacations, holidays, and family get-togethers will provide a lifetime of wonderful memories for us all.
Harold loved to sail, hike, camp, and tackle home projects – adventures and misadventures added equally to the family lore. Always modest, he valued hard work and was always ready to roll-up his sleeves to help family, neighbors, and friends. He also loved to garden and he volunteered at the Bartlett Arboretum and the Greenwich Thrift Shop.
Harold was predeceased by his beloved wife Jeanette and mother Yetta. He is survived by his twin brother Ted and sister in-law Brenda of Boynton Beach, FL; daughter Amy and son-in-law Jim Benjamin of Stamford; son Michael and daughter-in-law Leslie Stein of Swarthmore, PA; and devoted grandchildren Rachel and Sarah Benjamin and Claire and Jake Fishkow.
Funeral services will be held at Congregation Agudath Shalom in Stamford at 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 5, 2018. The family will be sitting shiva Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon and evening. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Bartlett Arboretum, Congregation Agudath Sholom, or the charity of your choice.
