Harvey Shuster, a special and beloved brother, father, uncle and dear friend to so many here in Stamford and elsewhere, passed away on December 17, 2023 at the ripe young age of 95. “I-95” as he was apt to call himself since his last birthday, Harvey is survived by his two sons, Dennis (Laurie) and Robbie (Alyce); his brother-best friend Shelly, by his nieces Stacy and Jeannie, by Jeannie’s husband Brian, and by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-nieces and nephew, Samantha, Alex, Michael, Dana, Brian, Brett, Sienna, Brody, Ava, Cole, Brett, Max, Hannah, Charlotte, Sophie and Jack. Harvey was predeceased by his oldest son, Neil, and his sister-in-law, Joan. Proudly born and raised in the Grand Concourse section of the Bronx, Harvey attended the acclaimed New York City high school, Dewitt Clinton. He spent the bulk of his young adult years in and around the restaurants, bars, and nightclubs of New York City, where he made the town his playground alongside a wealth of friends both new and old. He was the last of his “Club Windsor” buddies and talked about them often throughout his life. Professionally, Harvey spent his career in New York’s Garment Center where he was a partner in businesses manufacturing and distributing ladies’ coats and suits. In that capacity, he took great pride throughout his life knowing and remembering the hundreds of past customers of his that he sold to in cities all across the United States. A truly fun, wise and larger than life character, Harvey brought light, laughter, and warmth to the lives of everyone with whom he came in contact – from lifelong friends to those he met only once. Still, of all the terms of endearment that meant the most to Uncle Harvey, the title “Uncle Harvey” was one of his favorites. In fact, the notion that “everyone needs an Uncle Harvey” was something his family heard quite often over the years. Uncle Harvey was a truly blessed soul; healthy, happy and eternally grateful until the end. He will be missed, although he leaves a mark that will not be soon forgotten. Rest in Peace, GOAT!!!
