

Jeanne Hart Tella, 94, formerly of Stamford, died Tuesday in Dix Hills, NY. She was the wife of the late Anthony J. Tella, a real estate broker, and the daughter of Harry T. and May A. Hart. Raised in Darien, she graduated from Teachers College of Connecticut, and earned an M.A. from Columbia. As a first grade teacher, Jeanne found great pleasure in teaching children how to read. She taught at Rogers School from 1942-1960, then at Westover School from 1971-1972, and finally at Davenport Ridge School from 1972-1983. During her retirement, Jeanne enjoyed traveling with her husband, reading mystery novels, and visiting her grandchildren.
Jeanne moved to Long Island a few years ago to be closer to her son, Richard Tella, of Greenlawn, NY and two grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by a sister, Margaret Hart, of Southbury, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, October 25th at 11 AM at St. Cecilia RC Church, 1186 Newfield Avenue, Stamford. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery, Camp Avenue, Darien.
