She was a force of nature; a wonderful daughter, mother, friend, grandmother, great-grandmother and amazing cook; which is responsible, along with her wit and warmth, for the many friends and companions who enjoyed her company over the 60+ years spent in Stamford. With unmatched frankness, she prized her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, friends and those she always had room for at her dining room table.. She could be counted among the weekly worshipers and served as President of the Agudath Sholom Sisterhood for 8 years. She never forgot a birthday or an anniversary and was there when she was needed, never expecting anything in return. She traveled the world, was an immaculate dresser and was no stranger to a card game or a Mahjong table. She graduated from Pratt Institute, working as a dietitian for many years in Stamford, and was very active in the Brandeis University National Women's Book Club. She spent her last 9 years living in Colorado with her family.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edwin; and is survived by her son, Richard Kolodny, (MaryAnn), daughter Jodie Simek, (Bill), grandchildren Jacob Kolodny (JoAnna) Eli Kolodny (Samantha) Neal Rich, (Brittany Youdin), David Simek and great-grandchildren James, Jacqueline and Ezra. She left this world with no regrets.
There will be a graveside service at Agudath Sholom Cemetery, 554 West Hill Road, Stamford, CT, on Wednesday, May 17, at 12pm. Shiva will be held in Colorado.
Donations may be made in her memory to: Congregation Bonai Shalom, 1527 Cherryvale Rd., Boulder, CO 80303.
