Marita Mulligan Conron

Born in New York, New York, she was the daughter of Thomas and Anabel Mulligan. She graduated Marymount College with a degree in English. She spent most of her career educating students in the New York public school system. She retired from teaching when her children were born to devote all of her time to raising them. Once her children were off to Providence for college, she returned to teaching as the music teacher at Roxbury Nursery School in Stamford.

She was a parishioner at the Church of the Holy Spirit for 47 years. Over that time, she was an active member of the Women’s Guild, Women Walking With Purpose and church choir. She loved music, especially when sung by her grandchildren, and was known for having a song for every occasion. She enjoyed spending time at the Jersey shore, the New York Yankees and Providence College basketball. Above all things she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and watching her grandchildren perform on the field and on stage. She will be remembered for her famous expressions and her legendary ability to name every single feast day. Most of all, she will be remembered for her infectious smile, the joy she carried through all of her days, and the love she gave to everyone she knew.

She is survived by her son William Thomas and his wife Kathleen Marie of New Canaan, her daughter Patricia Anne of Darien and her beloved grandchildren Colleen Ann and Maddy Grace. She was predeceased by her husband Gregory Francis Conron.

Friends are invited to calling hours Thursday January 30th from 3-5 and 7-9 at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer Street, Stamford, CT. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday January 31st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Church of the Holy Spirit.
