Mary Elizabeth Lane

Born in Waterbury, CT, and raised in Watertown and later Norfolk, CT, she was the daughter of Dr. Thomas W. Lane and Josephine (Spallone) Lane. She graduated from Northwestern Regional 7 High School and received her BA from Middlebury College and a masters degree from Columbia University. Over the years she was employed at Asia Society, Citibank, and The Bank of New York, where she specialized in Asian markets and political risk underwriting. She had a second career teaching ESL and then Mandarin at Tenafly High School in NJ. She loved travel, attending concerts and shows, yoga, walks with her husband, a good glass of wine, but mostly she enjoyed time with her beloved family, husband Paul and son Liam, and her many sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and extended family.

She and her husband relocated to Stamford CT in 2020, where she enjoyed exploring her new community and walking by the beach. She will be fondly remembered as a witty conversationalist.

She is survived by her husband Paul Cristello and son Liam, sisters Anne (spouse Gary Salice), Martha and Sarah (spouse Tim Fitzgerald), brother John (spouse Jennifer Lane), her many nieces, nephews and cousins and her aunt Betty Spallone. She was predeceased by her parents Thomas and Josephine Lane, her brothers Thomas and Daniel Lane and her grandmother Anna Rossi Spallone.

Friends are invited to calling hours Wednesday, February 28, 4:00-7:00 PM at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer Street, Stamford, CT, with a memorial service to follow at 7:00 PM. The service can be viewed live at client.tribucast.com/tcid/1029278123
