

MATTHEW H. KENEALY JR. passed away April 30, 2010 at Stamford Hospital. Born May 18, 1921 in Stamford, son of Matthew H. Sr. and Estelle (Cave) Kenealy. He attended Bridgeport University for two years, studying engineering. He was predeceased by his son Matthew and brother, John. Matthew is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jeanne (Wagstaff) and his daughters Barbara Rockwell (Tom), their children Kristen and Allison, Susan Kearney (Jim), their children Kate, Sarah, and Steven, and daughter-in-law Cindy, her children Matthew and Kate, and several nieces and nephews. He had a life long passion for sailing and devotion to his family, friends, church, and political debates. He was employed at Raytheon (formerly Machlett labs) 41 years. Matthew was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a life time parishioner of the Basilica of St. John's Roman Catholic Church, where he was a member of the Parish Council and Head Lector for many years. He was also a member of the Stamford Senior Men's Club. Matthew volunteered for the State of Connecticut travel information. Matt's family will remember him as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was happiest when surrounded by his family, especially at holidays, and took special pride and enjoyment in his seven grandchildren. Some of his fondest memories were of sailing with his family and friends and time spent on Cape Cod. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, May 5, 2010 from 4-7 p.m. at the Leo P. Gallagher Funeral Home, 2900 Summer Street, Stamfor, CT 06905 and a Memorial service will be held Thursday, May 6th, 10:30 a.m. at the Basilica of St John, 279 Atlantic Street, Stamford, CT 06901. Donations may be made in memory of Matthew to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association .
