

Ruby was born on February 18, 1933, in New York City to Pedro and Juana Andrade.
She is survived by her children Vicenta Guerin, Rene Vargas, Son-in-law: Robert Guerin, daughter-in-law Sandra Vargas, Grandchildren: Travis Vargas, Armand Vargas, Orlando Vargas, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter Eva Vargas, and Siblings: Peter Andrade, Louis Angel Andrade, Lily Andrade, Johnny Andrade, and Noemi Cox.
Ruby did her best work as a mother to Vicenta Guerin, Eva Vargas, and Rene Vargas. She loved and nurtured her grandchildren Travis Vargas, Armand Vargas, and Orlando Vargas and was a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Ruby lived in Manhattan, Bronx, Jersey City, and Stamford Ct. She loved sewing, watching Turner Classic Movies, traveling, and cooking. She was a fan of the NY Times and read the weekend edition faithfully, marveling at the price of real estate in NYC. She enjoyed watching the cooking shows and tried to recreate their recipes. She loved family gatherings and cooking with family for those gatherings, specifically Thanksgiving.
In her working life, Ruby made bridal veils, worked at NY Telephone company as a switchboard operator, a bank clerk at Chemical Bank, and finally as a customer service representative for Consolidated Edison of NY.
Ruby was civically minded. She worked for the board of elections and served as a judge at local polling stations. She volunteered at senior centers in North Carolina and at the Stamford hospital.
Ruby’s mantra was FAMILY IS THE ONLY THING THAT LASTS.
