William A. Morgan, died at his home on June 7, 2023, after a long, valiant struggle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was 95. Born, in Buffalo, New York to William and Rosanne Morgan, he grew up in Rye, New York.
A graduate of Pomfret School, Yale University, and The New School for Social Research He spoke German and French fluently. Possessing a brilliant mind, great intellectual curiosity coupled with a deep respect for education, a love of history, political discourse, he had an absolute addiction to reading, devouring works of history, political science, and social science and was rarely seen without a book in his hand. Bill had a keen sense of humor and good-humored wit. Honorable, kind, loyal, generous, and fun, Bill was the best of men, and one of the nicest people anyone had the good fortune to know.
Bill served in the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Nuremberg, Germany and attained the rank of Corporal.
He worked as a computer programmer for Teleregister Corporation, Purdue Frederick and State National Bank before he retired. After he retired, he became a sale associate at J.C. Penney and later Filene’s at the Stamford Town Center. He truly enjoyed interacting with the customers.
A cradle Episcopalian, Bill was a longtime member of Saint Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Stamford. He served on the vestry, including terms as Senior Warden and Treasurer. He was also an acolyte and lector.
He was predeceased by Mary D. Morgan, his beloved wife of 62 years. He is survived by his daughter Mary Carolyn Morgan of Stamford.
A memorial requiem Mass will be held at Saint Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 1231 Washington Blvd., Stamford Connecticut 06902 on Saturday, June 24, at 11 a.m.
