Evelyn Allen McCumbee

She was born Oct. 18, 1945, in Gastonia, daughter of Ella Mae Costner Allen and the late James LeRoy Allen.

She was a faithful life-long member of Revival Tabernacle in Stanley. She was a member of the Halleujah Women’s Group, taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and a true prayer warrior.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 51 years, James E. McCumbee; daughters, Paula Taylor and husband, Vernon of Mt. Holly; Angela Tatham and husband Dan of Belmont; brother, Donald Allen of Gastonia; sisters, Joyce DeBerry of Lincolnton and Irene Walker of Spartanburg, SC. Grandchildren, Christopher Anderson (Abby) of Gastonia, Evan Tatham, Landon and Leighton Taylor; great grandchildren Aden and Kayleigh.

Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, August 17th at Revival Tabernacle in Stanley with Pastor John Mayberry officiating. Interment will follow the service in Evergreen Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the church and other times at the home of Angela Tatham.
