Remember and celebrate the life of Andrea M. Dorman—a woman of grace, intelligence, generosity, and spirit. A beloved wife, daughter, sister, and friend, Andrea touched many lives with her warmth, wit, and unwavering thoughtfulness.
Andrea was the cherished wife of John, with whom she shared a life rich in love, adventure, and partnership. Together, they built a life filled with movement and discovery—running side by side in their early years, later embracing the joys of biking and hiking as time passed. Their shared curiosity and passion for exploration led them across the country and around the world. Through those journeys, they not only saw incredible places but also built lasting friendships and embraced the beauty of diverse cultures and cuisines.
Andrea had a deep appreciation for people and community. She participated in many social organizations, both formally and informally. Alongside John, joined him at events for the Club Management Association of America, The Distinguished Clubs of the World, and The City Athletic Club Managers group. They were proud to be a Fellow of the Culinary Institute of America, a distinction that reflected her appreciation for excellence and her generous spirit.
Closer to home, Andrea had been active member of the Staten Island Road Runners and ran for many years with friends around the Island. She found joy in movement and in community—whether on the road, on the trail, or on the green. She was also a member of Colonia Country Club and the Colonial Pistol and Rifle Club, reflecting her wide range of interests and her adventurous nature.
Above all, Andrea was known for her kindness, her brilliance, and her unmistakable sense of humor. She could make you think, make you laugh, and make you feel seen and heard—all in the same breath. She left a mark on so many lives, and her legacy will be felt for years to come.
Together with John, Andrea established two scholarships that reflect their shared commitment to giving back:
• The John ('78) and Andrea Dorman Scholarship at the Culinary Institute of America
• The Andrea and John Dorman Scholarship at The Club Foundation (CMAA)
These gifts will continue to support and inspire future generations in the fields they both loved and championed.
Andrea was a daughter to Alfreda and Charles, a sister to Robert, and a partner in every sense to John. Her presence in their lives—and in all of ours—was a gift. She will be remembered not only for what she did, but for how she made us feel: valued, uplifted, and loved.
May her memory be a blessing, and may we carry her light forward in our own lives.
