

Anna Padula, 93, passed away on January 18, 2024 on Staten Island, NY.
A longtime resident of Dongan Hills, Staten Island, she held degrees from New Dorp High School, High School Diploma, Hunter College, Bachelor of Arts, and Wagner College, Master of Science.
A retired teacher, Anna started teaching at P.S.11– the school she attended as a young child– and was later assigned to P.S.52. She earned her Board of Education Reading Teacher certification and was involved in numerous specially funded programs for children experiencing reading difficulties. These involved testing to diagnose the reasons for the difficulties and recommending methods to remediate the difficulties. Anna also served as a librarian at P.S.52 and worked for the cardiothoracic surgeons Dr. Gerald J. Lustig and Joseph T. McGinn. She retired in 1985.
Anna volunteered for many years, originally, at the Staten Island Hospital Castleton Avenue site and then at the Ocean Breeze location. She continued volunteer work at the Gastroenterology office of Drs. Sottile, Megna, Mancino, and Langan.
She was an avid reader and a member of The New York Times Crossword Society. She loved music and attending concerts, opera, and ballet performances.
When she was young, Anna traveled by car and, in time, enjoyed visiting every state on the east coast from Florida to Maine and on into eastern Canada. She also made trips to Las Vegas and California, as well as cruises to Bermuda and St. Thomas.
She was predeceased by her brother, Caesar, and two sisters, Sara and Gloria. She is survived by her niece Nancy Padula, nephew Steven Padula, and three grand nieces, Christine, Stephanie, and Kathryn, as well as their families.
Services are being handled by Casey Funeral Home 350 Slosson Avenue Staten Island, NY 10314 – (718) 447-4242. Visitation is on Sunday, January 21, 2024. 2:00-5:00pm. Funeral is on Monday, January 22, 2024. at St. Ann's Church. at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in memory of Anna.
