

Born in Tubbercurry, County Sligo, Ireland, Anne moved to England at age 18 to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse, graduating with honors. At age 22, she moved to the United States to continue her passion for nursing, earning both bachelors and masters degrees in Nursing and Public Health from St. Francis College and Hunter College.
Shortly after moving to the New York, Anne met her husband of 62 years, Patrick, at an Irish dance in the Bronx. They married, settled in Eltingville in 1965, where they raised four sons.
Anne had a successful 60 year tenure working as a nurse, in various positions in England and New York, retiring in 2007. Upon her retirement, she enjoyed many hobbies, such as reading, sewing, cooking, taking long walks on the Spring Lake boardwalk, and spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren.
The longtime Islander was a parishioner of St. Clare's R.C. Church, Great Kills.
Anne is survived by her four sons, Gerard, Kevin and wife Kathleen, John and wife Mary, and Patrick; three sisters, Eileen Egan, Joan Durkin and Rita English; and four grandchildren, Kylie, Kaitlin, Sean and Katie.
The funeral mass will be held Saturday, September 23 at 9:45 AM at St. Clare's Church in Great Kills. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains.
