Cammy is preceded in death by her parents Fred and Rose Squitieri; husband of over 30 years Knight Vidal; and brothers Fred and Anthony Squitieri. She is survived by her brother Frank and wife Cherry Squitieri, former sister in law Theresa Dewidar, nieces Moriah Squitieri and Elena Page; nephews David and Fredrick Squitieri; sister in-laws Susan and Elaine Squitieri; great-nieces Isabella, Michela, Adriana and Alessandra, and a host of extended family and friends.
A Park Slope native, Cammy attended Saint Saviors Catholic School and graduated from John Jay Highschool in 1974. She went on to work as a paraprofessional at John Jay High School before returning home to care for her beloved mother Rose, and later her father Fred. A few years after her mother’s passing Cammy married Knight. She carried that same dedication into her marriage as an attentive and loving housewife. Even after she moved out of her childhood home to step into her married life, she continued to care for her father. She visited frequently to take care of his shopping and make sure he had everything he needed. Every bit of Cammy’s character was dedicated to serving and caring for those she loved. Sadly, her broken heart was never fully healed following the deaths of her parents, husband and brothers. Throughout a portion of this time Cammy found comfort in her two dachshunds, Minnie Pearl and Celine “CeCe.” She kept their collars as mementos after they passed away, displaying them where Minnie and CeCe would be found most often: the kitchen. They shared her love for food wholeheartedly. Cammy was always happy to talk about new recipes or reminisce about dishes she enjoyed in the past. Given her caring nature and affinity for animals, she turned her attention to caring for a group of stray cats that congregated in her back garden. She had names and stories for each one of them, Blanco, Bella and Mama to name a few. Cammy had an outrageous sense of humor, a phone call with her was guaranteed to be filled with laughter. Cammy will be remembered as a vibrant and loving woman who had the utmost compassion for animals and people alike. Though she now rests in God's care, her absence leaves an ache in our hearts as we continue our journey toward our eternal home.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at New Dorp Moriavian Church (2205 Richmond Rd, Staten Island, NY 10306) on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 9:00 AM with internment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the church conference room for fellowship following the burial. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to any animal-related cause in Cammy’s honor.
