Born in 1928 to Celestine Jules and Margaret Murtaugh Romond in Woodbridge, New Jersey. Butch was a man defined by his incredible work ethic and devotion to his family. A proud veteran of the "Greatest Generation," he served in the United States Navy Seabees during World War II, embodying the motto "We Build, We Fight."
Butch spent most of his life in Staten Island, where he was a well-known and hard-working member of the community. In his later years, he became a local fixture on Richmond Avenue running his hot dog truck, a job he loved and continued with great dedication until the age of 82.
He was the devoted patriarch of a large family and the beloved husband of the late Marjory Plumb Romond. He is reunited in death with Marjory; his son, John Romond; his daughter, Celeste Romond; his brother, John; and his sisters, Mary Ann and Kathryn.
Butch leaves behind a legacy of love in his survivors: his daughters, Nancy and her husband Richard, and Susan and her husband Keith; his six grandchildren, Kimberly and husband Michael, Nicholas and wife Amy, John and wife Melanie, Kristen and husband Michael, Ryan and wife Caroline, and Alexandra.
He will be deeply missed by his great-grandchildren: Harper, Connor, Colton, Cooper, Aria, Savanna, Skylar, John, and a soon-to-arrive great-granddaughter – all who he loved dearly.
