

She was born Christine Cook in Brooklyn, and moved to Dongan Hills in the early 1980s. After she and Roy Simmons were married, they lived in New Brighton, Travis and Dongan Hills. They relocated to Old Bridge in 2004.
She was an assembly worker for two years DiMarzio Inc., a musical instrument company in West Brighton, before leaving the work force to become a homemaker.
Mrs. Simmons was a skilled crocheter and crocheting designer, and many of her designs were featured in needlework and craft publications.
In her leisure time, she enjoyed watching criminal justice television shows. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving, along with Roy, her husband of 20 years, are her daughter, Kim Cataldo, and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be Thursday from the Virginia Funeral Chapel, with a mass at 10 a.m. in St. Ann’s R.C. Church, both in Dongan Hills. Burial will follow in Moravian Cemetery, New Dorp.
