

Mr. Connelly was born in Midland Beach and grew up in Stapleton. He settled in Tompkinsville 55 years ago.
He graduated from McKee High School, and was a member of their Alumni and Friends Association.
He worked for the city Sanitation Department in Manhattan and on the Island for 30 years, retiring in 1994. He belonged to the city Department of Sanitation Retirees and Associates of West Florida, the Emerald Society and DSNY Holy Name Society.
In addition, he was a member of the Community Mayors, a group of retired city workers who assist handicapped children at special events throughout the year.
He was also a member of the Richmond AARP, Pelican Athletic Club, Stapleton Friends Association, Ancient Order of Hibernians and Assumption Council, Knights of Columbus.
He treasured spending time with his family and especially loved doting on his grandchildren. He also enjoyed travel and was an avid New York Yankee fan.
He volunteered at Our Lady of Good R.C. Church's food pantry in Tompkinsville for more than 20 years, where he was a parishioner and usher.
"He was a quiet man who possessed a big heart, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him, said his son-in-law," Dennis Mangiero.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, the former Dolores Viscione; his daughter, Toni Ann Mangiero; his brother, John; his sisters, Anne Papanier, Agnes Schaaf and Virginia Albright and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be Monday from the Casey Funeral Home, Castleton Corners, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, West Brighton.
