'Her life revolved around her family and friends'
Dolores Laudicino (nee Piovesan), beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away in her home on March 30, 2016, from Fatal Familial Insomnia. She was 70 years old.
Born on March 29, 1946, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to parents John and Olga Piovesan, Dolores grew up in Brooklyn with her four siblings, twin sister, Diane, and three younger brothers, John, Richard and Robert. She attended St. Mark's grammar school and St. Edmund's High School.
She married and had three children, Donna, Robert and Suzanne. Eventually, she moved to Staten Island. Her life revolved around her family and friends. She was an amazing cook and loved when everyone was around, especially in the summer for BBQs around the pool. You could always tell when she was at any function, because that was always where the others gathered. They wanted to be around her and her infectious personality. She was always surrounded by loved ones and was known as Mom, Grandma, Dee Dee, Dee, Aunt Dee, Do, Dolores.
Later in her life, she went to work at MetLife, Bridge Financial Group. She looked forward to going to work and loved her new friends and co-workers. She was dedicated and hard working.
She was always thoughtful, generous and loving to anyone lucky enough to have come in contact with her, if even for a short time, but her greatest joy was in the role of devoted grandmother to her nine beautiful grandchildren: Alexandria, Nicholas, Vincent, Christopher, Victoria, Christian, Robert, Sophia and a grandson not yet born. Her adoration for them was only eclipsed by their unbelievable love for her. She loved listening to the children laugh and play, and could always be found on the floor right in the middle of anything they were doing!
She was an angel here on earth and now in Heaven. She will forever watch over all of us, and will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5, and Wednesday, April 6, at Casey McCallum Rice Funeral Home, 30 Nelson Ave., Staten Island, N.Y. 10308. Her Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 7, at St. Clare's. She will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery.
