Dorothy Anne Wazeter a lifelong Staten Islander died July 28,2019 from a short battle with lung cancer. She is survived by her husband Earl and their two daughters Denise Procaccini and Lori Schetlick. Son-in-laws David Procaccini and Harry Schetlick. Three beautiful grandchildren Christoher Procaccini, Ashten Procaccini, and Jackson Schetlick. Four siblings Robert Wazeter, Carol Foley, Joan Mitchell, and Anne Cohen. (Eldest brother Leonard Wazeter was lost 7 years ago.) Three Nieces and Nephews Stephanie Schickler, Russell Cohen, and Stephen Cohen (also her godson). Dottie also has two great nephews Dylan and Keegan Schickler.
Dorothy was one of six children born to Henry Wazeter and Stella Paluch. The oldest daughter she has always been the strong back bone to the group. Cousins and life long friends have been nothing but family and she is the glue to so many.
This year Dottie would have celebrated her 70th birthday as well as her Golden Wedding Anniversary with her husband. She had so much more to enjoy.
During her lifetime Dottie attended St. Adalbert's Grammar school, and Countess Moore. She was active in her Polish community through the Pulaski committee and a former Miss Polonia 1966. She worked a short time for the Staten Island Railroad. The majority of her career was spent in the medical field as an executive secretary to the director of the SIUH Emergency Department.
After retirement Dottie enjoyed cruising, traveling, and family. Family connections and keeping milestones celebrated was very important to her. She was a spitfire with a heart of gold and she will be sorely missed.
