

Volunteer for Girl Scouts, church & civic groups for many years Elizabeth Ann Hartmann (Betty) peacefully passed away on September 6, 2021 at the age of 87. Betty grew up in Flatbush, Brooklyn where she attended St. Thomas Aquinas grammar school and Stella Maris High School. Thereafter, she attended St. Joseph's Brentwood and Brooklyn College. In 1958, she married John (Jack) Hartmann. Jack and Betty had five children: Marie; Jean; John; Tom; and, Beth. Despite the loss of Marie before she was 4 and their grandson, John Buzzard, in 2008, Betty found great joy in raising the rest of their children and welcoming and doting on their 12 grandchildren. In addition to her family, Betty loved to travel, entertain and socialize. She was also very involved in and enjoyed many church, social and volunteer organizations, including: Girl Scouts (60 years); Blessed Sacrament Homemakers (22 years); Blessed Sacrament Altar Society; Blessed Sacrament Seniors; Widows/Widowers; AARP; and, her beloved sewing group (a/k/a BWS). Betty is survived by her: dear sister-at-heart, Patricia Hull; daughters, Jean Buzzard and Elizabeth Clancy; sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Luci Hartmann and John and Kelly Hartmann; and, her grandchildren, Robert and Patrick Buzzard, Jack and Samantha Hartmann, Eileen and Elizabeth Hartmann, and Ian, Sarah, Meghan, Connor and Kiernan Clancy. Visitation will be held Friday, September 10 between 6 and 9:00 p.m. in the Casey Funeral Home, 350 Slosson Ave, Staten Island, N.Y. Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Teresa's Church, 1634 Victory Blvd at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 11. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 West Stevens Ave, Hawthorne, NY.
