Ernie, a lifelong Staten Island resident, joined the Navy at the age of 17 and fought in the Pacific during World War II. He returned from the war and went to work for the City of New York for 33 years, the last 28 in the FDNY.
He is survived by four daughters, Linda (Danny), Karen, Cathy (Jeff), and Rosemary (Scott). Ernie was predeceased by his wife, Lorraine, and sons, James and Johnny.
In the last few years, Ernie enjoyed frequent trips to Atlantic City with family and friends.
Visitation is at Casey Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., with a service at the funeral home Monday at 10 a.m. Burial is at St. Peter's Cemetery, S.I.
