Ernesta Giordano

Ernesta Giordano, a lifelong resident of Staten Island, New York, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on October 15, 1933, Ernesta was a beloved aunt, sister-in-law, and friend.

A graduate of New Dorp High School, Ernesta went on to have a distinguished career as an actuary with Buck Consulting in New York City, where she worked diligently until her retirement in 1997.

Beyond her career, Ernesta had many passions. She was an avid gardener, a voracious reader, and a devoted “Star Trek” fan. Her kitchen was the heart of her home, where she lovingly prepared meals for her family and delighted them with her legendary Christmas cookies each holiday season.

Ernesta was the cherished aunt of Joseph Sparacino, Stephen Giordano (Patricia), Maria Wingate, Jack Giordano (Judy), Joseph Giordano (Andrea), Catherine Domanow (William), and John DeBiase. She is also survived by many great-nieces and nephews, as well as great-great-nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in her heart. She was the beloved sister-in-law of Marie Giordano.

She is predeceased by her loving parents, Maria and Giacomo Giordano; her sister, Louise Sparacino; her brothers, Joseph, Stephen, and Salvatore Giordano; her sisters-in-law, Anne, Mary, and Phyllis Giordano; her nephew, Jack Sparacino; and her niece, Doreen DeBiase.

Family and friends are invited to attend visitation on Thursday, July 24, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Virginia Funeral Chapel, 350 Slosson Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10314. A committal service will follow at Moravian Cemetery, 2205 Richmond Road, Staten Island, NY 10306.
