Survived by his brother John DeTommaso, daughter Lauren DeTommaso, stepson Christopher Ott, stepdaughter Julie Baney, step-grandchildren Haley Ott, Madeline Baney, Meadow Baney, several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Gene was a decorated Navy Vietnam Veteran serving from August 1969 until he was honorably discharged in September 1974.
Gene loved playing poker and watching a lot of TV shows. Most notably what he called his “man shows” about panning for gold and fishing. But his first love was cooking which began when he was a cook in the Navy. Everybody loved Gene’s cooking almost as much as he loved doing it.
Gene had a large personality which was only matched by his big heart and that was evident by all the people who he had in his life.
Gene was very loved and his presence will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation in his name to either the Disabled Veterans National Foundation Or
Tunnel to Towers Foundation. Both were charities he donated to and were near and dear to his heart.
