

Frances Evans (nee McGillivray), 92, passed away on May 28, 2017. Frances was a native Staten Islander, residing in Sunnyside since 1946. She was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Francis Warlow Evans. She was a Curtis HS graduate and received a medical assistant certificate from St. John's University. She was Dr. John Imperio's secretary for 30 years, retiring in 2000. Frances was an active volunteer since 1991 as a Friendly Visitor at Clove Lakes Health Care & Rehab Center. She was also a hospice patient care volunteer with the Visiting Nurse Service of NY (VNSNY) since 1996. She received multiple awards and certificates of appreciation for her service, most notably: The Dr. Norbert H. Leesberg Humanitarian Award in 1997 and the S.I. Network of Volunteer Administrators (NOVA) Award in 1998. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Frances is survived by her son, Ronald and his wife, Nancy; grandchildren, Colleen, James and Charles; great-grandchildren: Alyssa, Kaidyn, and Aiden, and many beloved nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by brothers, Jim, Johnny, Leonard, and Donald McGillivray. Visitation is at Casey Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 31, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be in St. Nicholas Chapel, Sunnyside, on Thursday, June 1, at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to VNSNY- Hospice Care would be appreciated.
