Genevieve (Parrotti) Motola, 98, passed away peacefully on March 30 in New Jersey. A beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Genevieve will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was a wonderful role model, known for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends.
Born and raised in Staten Island, New York, where she lived for 88 years, Genevieve was a compassionate individual who always put others before herself. She carried this spirit of care and selflessness throughout her life, touching countless lives along the way.
Genevieve was married to her devoted husband, Angelo, for nearly 50 years until his passing. Together they built a loving family, raising four children: Donna Stueber (husband William), Joseph Motola (wife Julianna), Peter Motola (deceased), and Robert Motola (deceased).
She was a proud and loving grandmother to William Stueber, Jr., Nicholas Stueber, Christopher Motola, and Matthew Motola, and a cherished great-grandmother to Ryan and Samantha. Cherished sister of Josephine Lyons and the late Anthony Parrotti.
A graduate of Curtis High School, Genevieve went on to business school and began her career with the firemen’s union. After marrying and starting a family, she later returned to the workforce with the New York City Department of Social Services, where she dedicated over 20 years of service before retiring. During her time there, she formed many deep and lasting friendships with her colleagues.
Genevieve had a creative spirit and found great joy in making beautiful ceramic pieces, often gifting them to loved ones. She turned this passion into a small business, G&P Ceramics, which she ran with her son Peter. There, she taught classes, sold her creations, and fostered a warm and welcoming environment for all who visited.
She treasured time spent with family and friends, especially during holidays and celebrations. Genevieve also gave generously of her time, volunteering at her local churches and schools. In her later years, she took on leadership roles in her local AARP chapter, where she remained active and engaged. She and Angelo also enjoyed traveling together and making lasting memories with their grandchildren during retirement.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the American Diabetes Association.
Her legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to others will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
