Gilbert M. Sharp

Gibert M. Sharp, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother passed away early morning of July 24th at age 79. He was born on January 23rd, 1943 to Ruth and Gilbert Sharp Sr. in Brooklyn, NY. Gilbert served our country during the 1960s. He was stationed in Germany and often shared the stories about his times overseas. When he returned to Staten Island, NY, he began working for the New York City Housing Authority where he eventually worked his way up to an Elevator Mechanic. He retired happily in 1995 and spent much of his time with family. Gilbert was an avid sports fan and loved watching his beloved Rangers, Jets and Mets sports teams. He enjoyed a challenging Sudoku puzzle and later on took up adult coloring. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Virginia Sharp; his sons, Gilbert Jr (Heather)., Timothy, and Jeffery (Doreen); his stepdaughter, Deborah Ratel (John), his stepson, James Hausler; and his brother and sister in law, Robert and Helen Sharp. Along with his grandchildren John, Jessica, Gilbert Jr., Timothy, Shirley, Katie, Victoria, Caroline, Dylan, Bridget, James, Aidan, Christopher, Jackson, Matthew and Taylor. He will also be missed by his nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A visitation for Gilbert will be held Tuesday, July 26, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Casey McCallum Rice South Shore Funeral Home, 30 Nelson Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10308. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, July 27, 2022 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM, 30 Nelson Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10308. A committal service will occur Wednesday, July 27, 2022 from 11:30 AM to 11:45 AM at Resurrection Cemetery, 361 Sharrott Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10309.
