

Gladys was born on Staten Island to the late Marie and Stanley Bliss July 19, 1930. She was their second child. Gladys attended Curtis High School where she became a lifetime member of the Kuzzy Klub and met her future husband Frank (Horse) DeSantis who was a well-known leader in Staten Island football.
After raising her family Gladys became a physical therapist’s assistant at St. Vincent’s Medical Center. She worked there for 30 years retiring in 1995. After retirement she remained active as a volunteer for Pax Christi Hospice, volunteered as a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary of St. Vincent’s and the Randall Manor chapter of AARP.
Gladys is predeceased by her husband Frank DeSantis and her son Frank DeSantis, a decorated Vietnam Veteran and teacher at McKee High School. She also experienced the loss of her daughter Joanne at a young age. Gladys is survived by her daughter Mozelle, her sons Mark and Stephen, 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Gladys was a wonderful cook, an avid and constant reader who will be missed by her family and friends.
Visitation will be at Harmon Funeral Home, 571 Forest Ave on Thursday January 2, 2020 from 2:00 to 6:00 pm. Burial will be on Friday 11 a.m. at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
