

Born and raised Ida M. Apicella in Brooklyn, she went to high school in her native borough.
Mrs. Overton moved to Staten Island in 1969 and lived in several communities, primarily Great Kills, until 2001, when she relocated to Freehold, N.J., for five years. She returned to the Island, moving to Castleton Corners, about two years ago.
She worked as a secretary for Brundage Story & Rose, a money managers firm in Manhattan, for many years. She retired around 2000.
Mrs. Overton enjoyed being with her family and especially loved time with her grandchilden.
"She was loving and caring," said her son, Thomas. "She was a quiet person whose greatest pleasure was being with her family."
Mrs. Overton also enjoyed baking cakes, and had been fond of playing shuffleboard at her former retirement community in Freehold.
She was a parishioner of St. Teresa's R.C. Church, Castleton Corners.
Surviving, along with her son, Thomas, are her daughter, Donna Schwabacher, and four grandchildren.
The funeral will be Monday from the Casey Funeral Home, Castleton Corners, with a Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Teresa's Church. Burial will follow in Ocean View Cemetery, Oakwood.
