

James F. Boland Sr. Retired HIP medical representative, longtime Westerleigh resident James F. Boland Sr., 88, of Westerleigh, Staten Island, N.Y., died on Feb. 28, 2016, in Staten Island University Hospital (North). Visitation is today, Tuesday, March 1, from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Casey Funeral Home, 350 Slosson Ave., Staten Island. The Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 2, at Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church, Staten Island. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Staten Island. Born in Jersey City, N.J., Mr. Boland lived in Westerleigh for the past 59 years. He was a medical representative and manager with the Health Insurance Plan of Greater New York (HIP) for 32 years before retiring in 1990. Mr. Boland was a graduate of Snyder High School in Jersey City, N.J., and Rutgers University. He was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Titan League and the Holy Name at Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church. Mr. Boland was a World War II Army Air Force veteran. His interests include history, sports, reading, travel, and woodworking. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Vivian Boland; sons, James Jr., William and Michael; daughter, Kathleen Roszczyk, and nine grandchildren.
