

Born Jeanne Clancy in Astoria, Queens, she moved to the Island as a teenager, residing in Great Kills and South Beach.
She graduated from Susan E. Wagner High School in 1981.
Mrs. Herrer loved rock music and her favorite band was Led Zeppelin. She liked gardening vegetables and flowers. She also loved to cook and was known for her delicious goulash. She enjoyed writing and became pen pals with her brother in Queens.
"She was very lovable and loved to be the center of attention," says her daughter, Jeanne Harrer.
She also enjoyed football and was a fan of the Buffalo Bills. She enjoyed socializing with friends. An animal-lover, she owned three cats and one Jack Russell Terrier named Rocky.
Her husband of 20 years, John Harrer, died in 2003.
In addition to her daughter, Jeanne, surviving is her daughter, Kelli; her mother, Jeanette Clancy; her father, Andrew Clancy; a brother, Paul Clancy, and a sister, Kathryn Ford. She is also survived by her longtime companion, Gary Akerley.
Arrangements for a private funeral and cremation are being handled by the Casey-McCallum-Rice South Shore Funeral Home, Great Kills.
