Joann Daniels, a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and cherished member of the Staten Island community, passed away peacefully in her home on June 17, 2025. Born on April 18, 1966, in Staten Island, Joann remained deeply connected to her hometown throughout her life, touching countless lives with her warmth, kindness, and generosity.
Joann had a giving spirit and never hesitated to help those in need. Whether bringing groceries to elderly neighbors or brightening someone’s day with kind words, she made it her mission to uplift those around her. She was an active and compassionate presence in her community and in her Jehovah's Witness faith which gave her strength. She was always reaching out to the lonely, the struggling, and the overlooked.
She had a love for her mother, Joyce Daniels that was a constant source of joy and comfort, and she made sure to visit her often, cherishing their special bond.
Her oldest daughter, Nhjela Pagan spent alot of time with her exploring nature, taking long walks and having heart to heart talks where they would not take each other's advice on life's issues. She cherished their coffee dates together as more time to bond and learn about literature.
One of the most cherished memories her family holds is when her daughter Akilah Pagan, took her on her very first flight and also her first trip out of the country. She was filled with joy and wonder, experiencing a moment of pure happiness. That trip was a milestone for her, a beautiful reminder that it is never too late to experience something new. Her smile lit up every place she went, and during that journey, she laughed, explored, and lived freely. Her family will forever treasure the image of her joyful and at peace, embracing the world with open arms.
Her love for travel also took her to the peaceful mountains of the Poconos and the crystal-clear waters of Turks and Caicos, often accompanied by her beloved family. At home, she found joy in simple pleasures; taking her granddaughter Aiyana Primeau to the park, playing games, and caring for the family dog, Bruce.
Her family, especially her children, were the heart of her world. She took great pride in being a mother and made sacrifices for her children. A favorite memory of hers was watching her only son who is the youngest; Chidi Anyia graduate high school and get accepted to college. Their walks to the library were a reflection of her love for learning and the bond she shared with him.
Joann is survived by her mother, Joyce Daniels; daughters, Nhjela Pagan and Akilah Pagan; her son, Chidi Anyia; her granddaughter, Aiyana Primeau; and her siblings, Steven Daniels, Donna Daniels Johnson, and Denise Williamson.
Joann will be remembered for her warm heart, generosity, deep faith, and tireless dedication to family and community. Her presence will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
