

Born in Long Island City, Queens, he graduated from Queens Vocational and Technical High School. He moved to New Brighton after he and Marie Cuccio wed in 1960, and to West Brighton 50 years ago.
Mr. Morano served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. A private first class, he was stationed in Korea.
He had a 38-year career as a computer engineer for ITT in Manhattan, retiring in 1989.
He loved traveling to Las Vegas, Chicago, Bermuda, Aruba and enjoyed visits to Atlantic City.
An avid sports fan, Mr. Morano enjoyed watching his favorite teams, the New York Mets and football Giants. He also liked to bowl and was the first contestant to win on the 1970s TV show, “Bowling for Dollars”. His prize was $1,500, his family said. And he enjoyed playing cards and watching old movies.
Mr. Morano was a parishioner of Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church, West Brighton.
Surviving, along with Marie, his wife of 53 years, are his son, John D., his daughter Cathy Morano, and his brother, Frank.
The funeral will be Friday from the Casey Funeral Home, Castleton Corners, with a mass at 11 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery, West Brighton.
