

John Alex Pedri, 88 of Great Kills, the beloved patriarch of the Pedri Family, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, March 14, 2024. He was surrounded by the love of his family. Preceded in death by his cherished wife, Marie Pedri, with whom he shared 58 years of marriage, John and Marie's love story was a testament to enduring devotion. Their journey began in Brooklyn and flourished in Great Kills, where they spent 44 years building a home filled with warmth and love.
Born on January 1, 1936, in Revo, Italy, John was the son of the late Giovanni and Adeline Pedri. At the age of 20, he ventured to Brooklyn, where he began to lay the foundation for a remarkable life. Throughout his life, John embodied strength, resilience, and unwavering dedication to his family.
John leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. He is survived by his four sons: John, Benedict (Karen), Richard (Terri Ann), and Vincent (Joanne), along with his daughter, Nadia Gillette (Chris). His memory will also be cherished by his siblings, Maria, Carmen, and Joseph, and his 14 adoring grandchildren: John, Natalie, Melissa, Lauren, Benny, Vincent, Maria, Karen, Kristin, Christopher, Matthew, Daniella, Nicholas, and Melissa. He was also blessed with a great-grandchild, Emma.
Throughout his career in the restaurant industry in New York and New Jersey, John cultivated lasting friendships and left an indelible mark on those around him. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially spending time with his family. Renowned for his culinary skills, John delighted in preparing delicious meals that brought his loved ones together. His passions extended to gardening, winemaking, crossword puzzles, opera, and taking leisurely walks.
In service to his country, John enlisted in the United States Army in 1961, demonstrating his commitment to duty and honor.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Casey McCallum Rice South Shore Funeral Home, located at 30 Nelson Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10308. A funeral service celebrating John's life will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at 11:00 AM at St. Clare's Church, located at 110 Nelson Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10308.

He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered as a devoted husband, a beloved father and grandfather, a loyal friend, and a pillar of strength. May he rest in eternal peace.
