John was born and raised in Brooklyn, attending Holy Family School and graduating from Xaverian High School in Bay Ridge. He then earned an Associates degree at Dean College in Franklin, MA. After working in the accounting department of several Wall Street brokerage firms, John joined his family’s business and managed parking facilities in downtown Brooklyn for many years.
As a youth baseball player, John had a sharp eye at the plate and later as an amateur photographer, a keen eye for nature. As was his character, John was modest about his talents, which won him recognition for his landscape photographs in online competitions.
John had a big personality and even bigger heart, a gentle soul that always cared more for those he loved than he ever did for himself. Whether showing his passion for his favorite team with other Ranger fans in the blue seats of Madison Square Garden, or rooting on the sometimes not-so-Amazin’ Mets, John always kept the faith. John loved and embraced life while he was with us. He could recite nearly every line from the Honeymooners, and to borrow from Jackie Gleason, how sweet it was!
John will be dearly missed by his family and many friends. He was devoted to his life partner and “other half,” Jeanette Gulisano, and gave much love in helping to raise daughters Sabrina, who predeceased John, Vanessa, and Krystal. He was Grandpa to Ariel, who filled him with so much joy these past eight years. John was predeceased by his mother, Marie Trombino (née DeMeo), and is survived by his devoted father, John Trombino of Monmouth Beach, NJ, and his brother Larry and wife Sonja, and niece Morgan and nephew Matthew, of Fair Haven, NJ, all of whom gave John such pride.
The family respectfully requests those who wish to honor John’s memory to make a donation to the Garden of Dreams Foundation in lieu of flowers.
There will be a memorial service at Casey Funeral Home
