John was born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y. After graduating from Boys High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. Upon his honorable discharge he spent the next 30 years working as a Traffic Supervisor for the Department of Defense at the Military Ocean Terminal in Bayonne, N.J.
John and his wife of 31 years, Anne Marie, made Staten Island their home in 1970, where they raised their three children together. John took pride in being an usher and parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church for over 40 years.
John enjoyed visiting Atlantic City with his family and friends, playing cards with his kids and grandkids, reading, and watching sporting events on TV. John had a love for woodworking and was known for his homemade wine cork trivets that he made for family and friends. What made him the happiest is spending time with his grandsons and attending all their sporting events and plays. They were the joy of his life and the reason he moved to Atlanta a few years ago just to be closer to them and watch them grow up.
John will be most remembered for his wicked sense of humor, his love of his family and being the kindest person in the room. His family will never forget how his smile would brighten anyone’s day.
John is survived by children Brian, John (Cyndy) and Debra Boswell (Jeff), his two beautiful grandchildren Griffin and Tanner, and sister Lina Forosich and brother Victor.
He was predeceased by his wife Anne Marie and sisters Alice Scopaz, Jeanne Scardino and brother Alfred. John will be missed dearly by a host of extended family members and friends.
A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at 11am at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church on Staten Island and he will be buried at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John’s memory to the Seton Foundation For Learning and Project Hospitality of Staten Island.
