The Manhattan native moved to Arden Heights in the early 1970s.
A member of the International Longshoremen's Union Local 1730, he worked for more than 30 years as a platform worker.
He was a loving uncle to his nieces, nephews and extended family. Mr. Sullivan developed many long and lasting friendships from childhood and maintained deep ties with them.
He served in the U.S. Army.
His wife, Margaret, died in 2001.
Mr. Sullivan is survived by his brothers, James and Billy, and his sisters, Sr. Mary Elaine Sullivan, Elaine Gorman, Peggy Cordero and Rosemary Crawshaw as well as many nieces and nephews. He is also predeceased by his brothers John, Gerard and Francis and his sister Patricia Walsh.
The funeral will be Tuesday from the Casey Funeral Home, with a Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Teresa's R.C. Church, both in Castleton Corners. Arrangements include cremation.
